Our history

Established in 1965, the then Cressy Bowmen (now Cressy Archers) was originally based in Enfield, before moving to its current home at Rundle Reserve in Salisbury South.

The club was named after The Battle of Cressy. The Battle of Cressy was a major engagement in the Hundred Years’ War in the year 1346 where British forces armed with longbows successfully defeated a much larger French force. The battle is regarded as a major driving force in archery becoming common place among western culture.

Our affiliations

Cressy Archers is affiliated with Archery South Australia and Archery Australia. The club falls under the jurisdiction of both governing bodies and complies with all rules provided by these two bodies.

By extension the club falls under World Archery and the World Crossbow association and follows these rules as required at a club level.

What do we shoot

At Cressy you will see a wide variety of archery disciplines including traditional longbow, horse bows, bare bow recurve, Olympic recurve, compound and cross bow. Whether you are looking to compete in the sport of archery or just enjoy a day out with your bow, we are the club for you.

Archery can also be a family affair, something for individuals or entire families to enjoy. This is one of the few sports where age is truly no barrier to participation.
